Rearends

Ford nine-inch center section using GM axle tubes housing. These took years of development. We liked using the GM axle shafts, but found it extremely difficult to obtain performance gear sets for these housings. By using the Ford center section, we were able to obtain performance gear sets and relatively inexpensive full spools while still using the GM axle shafts. The third ( first useable ) prototype was built in 1995 and is still in use today. Built from used Ford and GM housings. Takes a Ford nine inch housing and a GM housing to make one hybrid housing. New DOM tubing is used to bush the 3" GM tube to the 3 1/4" Ford center section. We use a full 5" of DOM tubing per side and are welded on the inside of the center section for greater strength. Uses stock 31 spleen, bolt in ( no "C" clips ) GM axle shafts with 5 on 5" bolt pattern. Uses same shaft for either side allowing the need for only one spare axle shaft. Uses stock GM brakes if used. Must use 31 spleen Ford side gears, mini spool, or ( our recommended ) full spool. Pinion angle rotated up for better drive shaft alignment after the car has been in a derby. This picture shows housing set up for 69' to 73' Imperial or 74' to 77' ( and newer ) Mopar. We can set up a housing to bolt under any leaf spring car or truck. Sent plain steel ready for paint, or just bolt in. Price is $400.00 outright plus shipping. We allow $100.00 each for a Ford nine-inch housing core, and a GM 71' - 76' bolt in axle housing core. Price with cores would then be $200.00 for a wagon or $250.00 for a sedan. When the initial core requirement is met, we then allow $25.00 for each additional useable core. For example: If we get three Ford nine-inch housings and two GM bolt in axle housings price is $125.00 plus shipping. There have been housings shipped out with no cash cost to the customer other than shipping charges. E-mail for details.

As a testimonial, we had a car take a track shot from the front of a 68' Imperial with 75' New Yorker bumper. It hit the rear tire square. It bent the white spoke ( ¼" center ) rim and double tire over enough to rub on the shock absorber. The tire wobbled, but the shaft did not break. He went on and drove the car out of the arena. The axle shaft flange was bent and the shaft was changed in five minutes. We know this combination works!

Hybrid housing set up to fit in a 71'- 76' GM full size sedan. Jig welded for a guaranteed fit. Pinion angle rotated up as with the leaf spring rear housings. Shown with optional drain plug and paint. Drain plug is $15.00 installed when ordered with the housing.
